PD6: DelCiello, H. "I Remember"

I Remember Poem

I remember hiking the Grand Canyon
The way the hot, dusty sand smelled
And how the meaty smell drifted from the beef jerky.
I remember the sandy taste in my mouth
Like falling face-first on the beach.

Water's touch dribbling into my mouth
Was a snake slithering across my tongue.

I remember the Colorado River rapidly flowing
How the black bridge crossed it to even more dirt trail.

Each time I recall this memory, the urge to continue,
helping, perseverance overwhelms
brings me to my new goals.

PD:3 Ella D "I remember"

I remember the peach incindent
teh way the peaches smelled
and how the can smelled
I remember the sweet taste of the peashed
As I bit into the pit
Mother's touch calming my nerves
sweet as the peach
I remember how i thought i saw blood
How it was really just the peach
Each time I recall this memory i laugh
laughing and feeling slightly embarassed
I cannot bealieve i did that.

Pd.2 Clement, K - I Remember Poem

Remembering the Morning

I remember the 3 am wake up call to drive to Maine.
The way the car reeked of leather cleaner
And how my stuffed lamb smelled like lavender.

I remember the sweet orange juice
Like the sunshine brightening my morning.
My dog's touch was soft
Her fur was a blanket that warmed my six year old self.

I remember the bright lights darting past me
How the sirens and traffic lights twinkled like Christmas lights.

Each time I recall this memory, the fun times of Maine rush back to me.
Running through the gate to see the rest of the my family.
The long drive is definitely worth it.

pd;6 Evelyn Thomas- Found Poem

Found Poem- The Red Umbrella
I waited
Every second was valuable
Another pause
Maybe I could do it again
I stared hard
Nothing
I hesitated
Bring me a dream
Hello, un momento
She smiled
Joy filled my heart
We're fine
Hearing his voice filled me with a sense of calm
Forget the miles between us
Good
I won't see that
We're going home
I wish
Maybe soon...

In this poem that I made from the Red Umbrella, it shows sadness and hope. Sadness because all Lucia and Frankie really want is to go back to Cuba to see there parents. Also, its sad because they are so far apart, and can almost never talk to each other. Hope on the other hand, because though they're far apart, she can talk to her parents on a phone call. But she can rarely do this becuase of the expense.

Pd: 6 Sydney Verna

Gazing at the large airport clock. Five minutes. Three hundred seconds. The clocks second hand moved slowly. Can't wait. Good impression. Things on her mind. She'll love you, not because anything you could wear. Flight 24 had just arrived. Smoothed back the wrinkles in my dress. wearing very best clothes. Appearance changed. Grown up. What if mama thought I'd abandoned everything. What if?

Max Austin Found Poem

Max Austin
English 2
Heartbeat quickened,
I felt a tap on the back of my right shoulder.

 A girl,
 hair so blond,
 it look almost white,
motion for me to join her.

I followed her to a seat,
 quickly sat down.

I choose this scene for a few reasons. First of all I chose it because kindness is shown in this scene. No one wants Lucia to sit next to them but Jennifer, and invites her to sit with her. Second I chose it because it shows how doing one thing nice can have a big affect. After they talk on the bus they become friends and then turn into best friends. This communicates an important lesson on empathy and tolerance because it shows how she felt stressed and worried that no one was going to be nice to her. Jennifer being one of the only one knowing how she felt decides to invite her to join her.

A found poem

A white heron circled the beach
Heading north toward the tropics
Gradually flapping it’s wings disappearing
Into the pink and orange sky,
As it flew I realized it was time for us to go to
