Pd. 2: Emma Kushner

A Midsummer Night's Dream

If I had to choose the funniest scenes in a Midsummer Night's Dream, which is tough, I must say the scenes in 3.2, 4.1, and 5.1. They are very enjoyable and extremely funny because they make people want to laugh out loud. Especially if their having a bad day, which then you can bring a little joy into their lives. In Act 5 Scene 1, the rude mechanicals play was Pyramus and Thisbe, and let me tell you that it was horrible, but funny. When they needed the moon for one of their scenes in the play, they had to use a lantern, which was disappointing. There was also a dog that wasn't letting go of the veil on Thisbe, which was hilarious. Although the play was really funny overall, the one thing I have to say was super funny was when the lion was trying to "impress" the ladies with his roaring. Now that's classic humor. You know what else is? In Act 3 Scene 2, when Hermia and Helena were having an argument that involved Lysander and Demetrius, which led to both of the women falling and fighting in a mud put. Its lucky since a mud pitt happened to be right near where Helena and Hermia were standing, or else the scene wouldn't of been funny. When the fighting happened though, the men Lysander and Demetrius were just standing there the whole entire time! I guess they didn't want to get   covered in mud. In the last scene, Act 4 Scene 1, since the queen fairy, Titania was under a spell, she fell in love with Bottom, the donkey. In this scene, she was treating him with all the best care and giving him all the attention that he desired. While this story was playing out, Bottom probably felt confused and just wanted someone to do something at his every command. The funny part was that Titania didn't even care or notice when she was under the spell! Shakespeare has created some wonderful play's, but this one by far has to be one of the most funniest ever.
