PD 6: Sophia T
Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer's Night Dream, is considered to be one of his funniest plays. Three of the funniest scenes are 1.2, 3.1, and 5.1, or any other scene with the Rude Mechanicals, because they make people laugh and they are very unique. In act 1, scene 2, the Rude Mechanicals meet for the first time. Bottom the Weaver tries to take over the meeting and keeps using the wrong words. For instance, he uses generally instead of individually when describing the way Peter Quince should call the men to audition for the play. During act 3, scene 1, Bottom is turned into a donkey (or an ass, very funny Shakespeare).I haven't seen many plays or movies where one of the main characters' head is turned into a donkey and Puck, who turned Bottom's head into a donkey, was funny all by him self. The Rude Mechanicals finally put on their play in act 5, scene 1. They perform so badly that the audience thought that they made the play trying to make it funny. The "actor" trying to play the wall tries to just get up and leave and Robin Starveling, while playing the Man in the Moon drops his lantern. A Midsummer's Night Dream is one of Shakespeare's funniest plays and the Rude Mechanicals contribute a lot to that.
