Zachary J English PD1 Found poem

Cuban feeling
Warm summer days,
becoming hot summer weeks,
and cool nights were a reminder that I was far from home.

A home,
that each passing day,
seemed to drift farther away.

Pushing aside the fear that I might never see me parents again,
but the hope that we’d be going back,
was quickly fading.

They are feeling empathetic towards their parents because they are still in Cuba. They are wishing their parents were with them, because they are feeling free from Castro. They are learning a new language, getting a better education, and they do not have to follow harsh rules. Lucia and Frankie are living with a foster family that is very nice and caring to them. The Baxters helped them learn their way around in Nebraska they learned how to farm and do other fun activities. They are hoping to see their parents. but, they are also getting calls from their parents about coming to America one day. Lucia and Frankie found a great deal of empathy for their parents, and wondered if they would ever get the chance to experience the freedom that they feel.
