PD. 6, Sam S: I remember poem

I remember almost drowning
The way the salt water burnt my nose
And how the shops in the background felt miles away

I remember the chlorine stinging my throat
As if a thousand bees were inside of it

The inner tube's touch
And how my fingers always would slip away
I was swimming through air

I remember the rushing water
How through pounded through my head

Each time I recall this memory, I sigh in relief
Laughing in the face of death
Glad the I'm still alive to this day
