Found Poem: Emma K. Period 2

                             Exposed

Your nothing special cubanita , probably never were

Words had cut me to the bone

Something to break the monotony of every day

My insecurities felt exposed

Typical sounds of a hundred chattering voices  greeted me

Betty and her gang are mean, nasty, idiots

Found Poem inspired by Christina Gonzalez's " The Red Umbrella "

Found Paragraph:

On page 210, the scene where Betty reveals Lucia's true identity, and made her feel exposed was an amazing part of the story because it showed tolerance. Her true friends like Jenifer who were filled with empathy made Lucia feel welcomed and accepted into their group, unlike Betty and her posse who shared her insecurities to the world. This poem about empathy and tolerance connected with the lesson that talked about the same thing because of Lucia's friends who couldn't tolerate that Betty wasn't full of empathy and that she was making fun of Lucia because she was from Cuba and different than everybody else and that she would never be important enough. Betty just doesn't understand what its like to come from a place that was in a revolution and that was always under attack. Inside, Betty probably felt guilty, jealous, and insecure all at once because the of horrible way she treated Lucia, who was considered to be the new girl at the time which was not a bad thing at all. Lucia and her good friends probably felt bad for her, but most people would feel the same way. Lucia learned after that she had real friends that care about her, and Betty's gang that only hang out with her because she is popular and they want to fit in as well. Everyone figured that Lucia and Betty would never become good friends, and they never did.
