pd3:Alex,L A Cuban Christmas

A Cuban Christmas

Santa bringing presents.
Ham,scalloped potatoes,carrot
pineapple gelatin salad.

For me it was nochebuena.
The smell of onions and garlic
roasted pig,black beans,rice,and yuca.

Music playing,rhythmic sounds.
Dancing all night.
Everyone coming over.
The tables set.

Eating, laughing, and playing
dominoes. It was a big party
under the stars.

"Bruce the Spruce" liked this scene because it gave him an opportunity to experience Christmas in a different way. What he discovered was that no matter how crazy the traditions are it is still all about family. "Bruce the Spruce" was impressed when he saw Mrs. Baxter attempt to combine the two cultures. Mrs.Baxter's actions show how much she cares about making Lucia and Frankie feel at home. "Bruce the Spruce" appreciates the empathy Mrs. Baxter felt toward Frankie and Lucia leaving their family so far away. Mrs. Baxter knew it would be hard for them so she added some of their traditions with hers. "Bruce the Spruce" was surprised to see how tolerant the Baxters were with the kids. In the little time that Frankie and Lucia have been there they have tried new things and are becoming more like a family with the Baxters.
