Pd. 6: Bové, O Found Poem

Viva La Revolución!
By: Olivia Bové

I was scared to fight back. My stomach churned.
I hated all of the soldiers!
"Don't blame the brigades or the revolution."
That soldier was scum, something should be done.
"Hope you haven't been caught in any race riots."
"I read that they are happening everywhere and how everything is so dangerous in the U.S."
"Violent, awful people. You'll finally escape that nightmare."
It sounded like Ivette was the me who needs to survive.
But it was the three words that sent a chill down my spine.
It said . . . "Viva La Revolución!"

Reflection Paragraph:
The inspiration of this poem was just from flipping to a random page and reading it to see if it was good. Then what happened was that it was thought to be a good page representing the Cuban Revolution. It was copied down and turned into this creative poem. It communicates into an important lesson about empathy and tolerance by telling everyone that the Cuban Revolution can break up friendships/families. It may also make people feel empathy for children/families that had to go to Cuba and feel badly for others. It can also make people feel respect for their country today. Also that they have an amazing life compared to others. It  can help humans appreciate the world they live in and the shelter/home they have.
