I'm Jennifer.
This scene really shows empathy because someone is being nice to Lucia. It shows Lucia that there is a reason to come to school everyday. Jennifer never needed to do this but she did to make the new kid feel welcome which really shows the kind of person she is. Now that Lucia feels welcome she won't be as shy during school there for she can thrive more. This scene was important because it teaches the reader how to treat a new student nicely. Now Lucia has something to keep her mind off Cuba. Witch her parents want her to do. Those are some reasons This scene really shows empathy in many ways.
