Large & Big Umbrella
Large bright-red umbrella
pause & take notice.

Ridiculous umbrella
for a ridiculous woman.

Embarrassing.

Better safe than sorry.

Big enough to protect all of us from the rain.

Red
strength
all it will represent.

Found poem inspired by Christina Diaz Gonzalez’s “The Red Umbrella”

This poem is inspired by the important scene in the “The Red Umbrella”.  It is important because the book is called “the red umbrella” and it is the first time it is mentioned in the book.  The poem shows empathy because the mom likes the red umbrella for some reasons.  One of the reasons is because it its a big umbrella which covers the whole family. That shows empathy because she likes protecting her family from the rain, so they don’t get wet.  Another reason is when the mom says the color red resembles strength.  That is showing that she feels strength with the umbrella.  With the red umbrella the mom feels her family is all together as one.  That is how the scene with the red umbrella is important and shows empathy.
