Waiting for Frankie

Hopefully the final surgery

did not pain him

I would no longer recognize nor want to see that sadness that seeped through his words and made its way straight into my heart 

No matter what I missed my Frankie 

The scene from the book is important because it is when papa was hurt. She was on the phone wondering if he was okay. She maybe thought that he would not be okay so she was really nervous. If papa was hurt so bad that he would die it would be really bad for Lucia's mom.  The poem also demonstrates empathy because it is about a girl waiting for a guy to come out of surgery. The girl doesnt want him to feel pain and that is a demonstration of empathy
